Do It Or Don't

Everyone has their own reasons why they work out. And if you don't, that's probably why you lack motivation, and skip going. You have to know why the hell you want to workout. Is it to be healthier, to lose weight, to train for a marathon, to train simply because you want to feel accomplished with something? I'll tell you my why.

I workout because it's my therapy, it's something I know I can control 100%, and it's something that has never made me feel bad for doing it. I was in sports since I was 5 years old. From tee-ball, to softball, to basketball. Being competitive is in my nature. Once I graduated college it was all over. I didn't have a place to be competitive anymore. My activity level went from 100 to about 10 if you count walking to the car every day as activity. LOL. I hated the feeling of not doing anything. So I joined a gym in 2014. And I haven't stopped since.

It all starts with YOU and what YOU want for yourself. If it's one thing that will kill your motivation, it's excuses. Do I want to go to the gym 5x a week? Yes and no, I'd rather lay on the couch after my 8-4:30 shift. But right now I have a bigger why. I'm competing in my first powerlifting meet. The sport is basically based on how much weight you can lift. So I NEED to train in order to become stronger. It just so happens I LOVE the feeling of being strong. So I'm going to do what I have to do to have a great first meet. If I wasn't training for the meet, I would still train because it's just what I do and what I truly enjoy. It makes me feel good about myself, and I get to be competitive with my strength.

There isn't only one style of training. Find what it is that you like and start out slow. Don't worry about what others will think, they aren't the ones doing the work for you anyway.

I got in the routine of just DOING IT. Literally. So it's more about self-discipline than self-motivation for me. Very few people motivate me. I truly believe it alllll has to come from within. Point.blank.period.!!

DO IT OR DON'T.
