Body types? Wut?

There is soooo much more to health and fitness than your typical belfie (booty selfie), ab check, and chicken and veggie diet. There's literally millions of different training programs, diets, and supplements out in the world. It can sometimes be overwhelming to choose who to trust, what to try etc. Most people try a workout regimen and "diet" and lose hope and give up. Or they find themselves constantly starting over, month after month, year after year.

In order for something to work for you, you need to understand it. I.E: YOUR BODY TYPE. Yes, everyone has a body type. We all have different bodies, genetics, reactions from certain foods, strengths, and weaknesses, and thus we each have different activities and behaviors that we’re predisposed to be good at (or struggle with!). No one is perfect right out the gate, and no one ever will be. Perfection is an illusion. A poisonous word that manipulates minds. So fuck perfection. It takes time to understand your body and all of it's components. I'll make this quick. This isn't the end all be all on this topic. I just want to share some information that has helped me in my own journey.

Ectomorph (Thin): A person with a lean and delicate body build. They struggle to gain weight as body fat or muscle. They can eat a shit ton of food and look the same, even when gaining muscle is their biggest goal. Also known as the "hardgainer", the ectomorph tends to have long limbs, and small muscle bellies. They can become freakishly strong and healthy on the inside, but may not show it on the outside. In order to show it, they must eat like The Rock.

Mesomorph (Muscular): A person with a solid torso, defined muscles, low fat levels, wide shoulders and a snatched waist. They typically put on muscle quick without adding much body fat to their frame. Mesomorph's have a natural tendency to be fit and muscular. They can go 2 weeks without working out, and bounce back super easy.

Endomorph (Curvy): A person with a larger bone structure, wider waist, thicker rib cage, short limbs. They struggle to gain muscle without a significant amount of added body fat. This does not mean they can't be healthy and strong!

Some bodies are less efficient and tend to store more energy as fat, some are inefficient at building muscle. Despite genetics, it is your lifestyle choices, the foods you consume, and how YOU train that will ultimately determine YOUR body shape! How your body was made up isn't your fault, but it is your responsibility to take care of it and understand what needs to be done in order to be your best, happiest self. Do not dwell on these body types, do more research if you are truly interested and don't be afraid to try new things!
